Best for: Owners and admins finishing Meridian setup

Meridian setup checklist

The Setup page shows what is set up, what Meridian has seen working, and what is still missing. Status is computed from what Meridian has observed. The only status a person sets by hand is Skipped, and only on an optional step.

Open it from Settings. The link under the Settings heading is Setup checklist. The page title is Setup, and the line under it is "What is set up, what Meridian has seen working, and what is still missing." Back to settings returns to Settings.

Who sees what

An owner or an admin sees the setup profile, every checklist step, and the skip controls.

The person named as platform owner sees the platform steps and the steps shared by both roles. They do not see the profile form or the skip controls.

The person named as finance owner sees the finance steps and the steps shared by both roles. They do not see the profile form or the skip controls.

Anyone else who can open the page sees the heading, the complete or not-complete line, and the two downloads. They do not see the profile or the steps.

If the profile cannot be loaded, the page says "Setup status could not be loaded."

Complete or not

While any required step is still short of Verified, or any optional step is neither Verified nor Skipped, the page says "Setup is not complete."

When every required step is Verified and every optional step is Verified or Skipped, the page says "Setup is complete as of" and the time Meridian recorded.

Setup profile

The form is titled Setup profile. It is on the page for an owner or an admin. Save profile sends it. While the save is in progress the button says Saving….

Identity provider is None, Entra, Google, or Okta. Before the first save, Meridian fills this from the provider it has already seen, when it has seen one. After a save, the menu shows what was saved.

Break-glass account email appears when the identity provider is Entra, Google, or Okta. It is hidden when the provider is None. The address has to be a member of this organization. If it is missing, the page says "Name a break-glass account when an identity provider is chosen."

Platform owner email and Finance owner email are optional. An address you enter has to be a member of this organization. Saving a platform owner adds a required Platform owner step. Saving a finance owner adds a required Finance owner step.

If an address is not a member, the page says "That account is not a member of this organization." If someone who is not an owner or an admin tries to save, the page says "Only an owner or admin can edit the setup profile."

Each row shows the step name, a status, and one sentence about what Meridian has seen. Under the name, the row says Required or Optional. It can also say Active, awaiting usage, Draft open, or Added after setup. Added after setup means the step was created after setup had already been completed. Open this step is the link to the page for that work.

Statuses

The status on the right of a row is one of these:

VerifiedMeridian has seen the signal for this step.
Needs attentionA signal that had been good has gone stale, failed, or is incomplete.

Undo skip puts the step back. If a reason was saved, the button reads Undo skip and the reason in parentheses. If the skip cannot be removed, the page says "That skip could not be removed."

  • "That step could not be skipped." The page could not complete the skip.

Downloads

Download PDF saves meridian-setup.pdf. Download Word saves meridian-setup.docx. Both are the same document, limited to the steps the person downloading is allowed to see.

The document is titled "Meridian setup". It says whether setup is complete, and the completion time when one is recorded. It lists the identity provider, the sources, the accounting choice, and whether self-hosted or on-prem models is yes or no. For an owner or an admin it can also list the break-glass account. It then lists each visible checklist step with Required or Optional, the status, the sentence under the row, and the skip reason when the step is skipped. When status has changed, a changelog follows. The file does not include secret values or spend amounts.

If the file cannot be downloaded, the page says "The document could not be downloaded."
