Day in the life: cost-center owner

Short answer. Your cost center is a department. Set its monthly budget on Departments, and read Spending by Department or Spending by Cost center on Analytics. Name an owner on each agent that should land in that department. A budget alert warns you. It does not move the spend.
The department
On Governance, open Departments. The line under the card is "Cost allocation by team." The page title is Departments, and the line under it is "Organize teams and track AI spend by department."
A department without a budget shows an em dash in the Budget column on Analytics. Set Monthly Budget when this cost center should have one. The steps are How to set a budget and an alert.
Whose spend
On Analytics, the buttons are Department and Cost center. Both read the same spend. Department columns include Budget. Cost center columns include % of Spend.
An agent lands on a department from the department on the agent, not from the agent's owner. Seat charges use the department column on the CSV. Name a person under Owner on Agents & allocation so someone is accountable. That case is An agent with no owner.
What you do not close
Locking the month and posting it are on Chargeback. The Governance card is Chargeback / GL Export, and the line under it is "Month-locked cost-center CSV for your ERP." A cost-center owner reads the department and the budget. The lock is the close in Month-end close.
